Each Day is an Opportunity to Choose Happiness

Happy You, Happy Them: How to Be a Happy Parent

Why Your Happiness Counts (Yes, Yours)

Hey there, wonderful parent! Ever pause to think about why your happiness is just as crucial as your kids’?

Here’s the thing: when you’re thriving, it radiates through your whole family. A happy parent is a patient, understanding, and energized one—and that’s a game changer in the world of parenting.

And believe me, I know how busy life is as a parent. And I understand how sometimes it can feel impossible to put your needs at the top of the list.

That’s why I’m all about simple, daily check-ins that guide you toward more self-awareness and a joyful state of mind.

Asking yourself questions like,

  • “Am I thinking happy thoughts?”
  • “What is one thing I can focus on that will make me happy right now?”
  • “What choice will I make today that will bring more happiness into my life?”

helps shift your day from overwhelming ➡️ overjoyed.

Because you shouldn’t just make it through the day. You deserve to have your days filled with happiness that spreads out into your world and to your children.

Love Yourself Loudly: The First Step to Being a Happy Parent

Self-love is the first step when it comes to being a happy parent.

This has nothing to do with being selfish. It’s about making sure you’re at your best so you can be there for your family in the ways they truly need.

By prioritizing your own happiness, you set a powerful example for your children about the importance of valuing yourself. Remember, the choice to be happy is a gift you give yourself.

So, how can you start practicing self-love?

These are a few ways I take responsibility for my self-care no matter how jam-packed my days are as a parent:

  • Beginning each morning with gratitude. It can be as simple as writing down or saying to yourself five things you’re grateful for. This can jumpstart your positive mindset and set you up for the rest of the day.
  • Claiming a few quiet moments for yourself every day—this can be whatever works for you, like sitting outside with your coffee for five minutes, letting the sunshine wash over you, or listening to your favorite song. These acts of kindness to yourself replenish your spirit and empower you to handle parental challenges with a calmer, more centered approach.
  • Standing in front of the mirror and saying something like, “I’m amazing. I’ve got this!” A positive affirmation like this takes less than a minute and helps with things like focus, clarity, and abundance.

Celebrating The Joy of Being a Happy Family

As a parent, your happiness isn’t just for you—it’s a powerful example for your children.

Celebrating your achievements, both big and small, teaches your kids the importance of acknowledging their own successes and the positive effects of making happiness a priority.

I want to leave you with this inspiration from my heart to yours; you’re doing an incredible job.

And always remember, you have the right to be a happy parent.

Fun & Easy Ways For Your Child To Start To Master Their Health

1. Unify It

Reframing the language around healthy eating creates magic!

The mind is a powerful tool. You can change your perception of anything simply by the way you think about and describe it. Your child’s mindset can shift from having to eat it to wanting to eat it when you begin to describe healthy eating as an opportunity instead of framing it as a chore!

Instead of saying “You need to eat this carrot because it is good for you,” try this:
“Wow!

You have the amazing opportunity to supercharge your body with all the energy it needs with this carrot. It has incredible superpowers that will help you feel energized to play all day! It has magic inside of it for you.”

2.Gamify it

Make it a game.

Science has shown that children learn through play.

Play shouldn’t end at the swing set. Move the fun into the kitchen and start making eating a game. One of the best ways to do this is by playing chef.

Take them on a special trip to the grocery store. Have your child pick out three different colored vegetables to prepare a dish. This empowers them to take leadership of their own healthy eating and it’s fun!

3. Amplify it

Seal it with gratitude.

If a life filled with gratitude is a happy one, then a body filled with gratitude is a healthy and happy one!

Sometimes showing gratitude is even easier when we assume sentience! Let your child know that food has feelings and that it is listening. Ask them to say “thank you” to the food for fueling them with the power they need. Let them know that gratitude is the key to magical wealth flowing into your life.

Have them research, learn, and understand so they can see the value for themselves, rather than it coming from you. Giving them the opportunity to understand why this is an important key to their life.

This unlocks a new awareness, and before long, your child will enjoy eating healthy. Soon enough, you’ll be reminiscing on the difficult days while enjoying the easier ones!
