I’ve been there. By 27 years old, I was a mom to four kids, and there were days I fell to my knees—exhausted, depleted, unsure what to do next. No energy left for my children, my husband, or me. 

But something inside me said it didn’t have to be that hard, and I went on a journey to find out how to raise my kids and be happy at the same time. 

This is the truth that I discovered: Happiness is a result of the habits you practice daily. 

So, I transformed not just my daily routines, but my entire parenting experience when I began incorporating self-love practices into my life and making them daily habits. 

Because here is the secret about creating habits that bring you joy: Being a happy parent is vital for the happiness of your entire family. 

Yes, you read that right. 

When you prioritize your well-being, you’re essentially teaching your kids how to love themselves through your example and paving a path of limitless abundance for them.

It truly is those small things you do to take care of yourself that make all the difference in feeling like you are winning at this parenting thing or not… it all starts with you. 

Your habits are what create your reality. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by chaos, it’s your signal to revisit what truly fulfills you every day. It’s not just about creating habits—it’s about living intentionally. When you choose to live intentionally, you shift your perspective to a higher, happier, and more fulfilled state.

Now, if you’re thinking, great, how am I going to add self-love into my day? I really would like to just go to the bathroom by myself… Don’t worry, I’ve got you. I did this while I was raising my four kids and building an Inc 5000 media company from scratch. If I can do it, I know you can, too. 

So, how do you do it as a busy parent? By creating a system of small, positive daily habits that give you a path to follow no matter what is happening in your day. This system will give you the foundation and structure that make self-love habits a priority in your life and unlock an unshakable inner strength and happiness.

What are the foundations of these positive daily habits? Here are a few:

  • Staying Consistent
    You want to show up for yourself with small habits that work for you every day. You don’t need to overhaul your life. Start with one or two habits that feel good for you and add on from there.

    Taking part in activities that are good for your body, mind, and emotions makes your overall life healthier. This means you’ll feel more energetic and happier.
  • Shifting Your Mindset
    Positive habits help create a positive mindset. They make you more optimistic, helping you get through tough times and see the good in challenges.

Adding habits to your daily routine is like setting a little anchor, keeping you steady and intentional. So, when life throws a curveball—and it will—you’ve got these solid habits to fall back on. They help you stay grounded and in control. It’s about stacking your day with purposeful actions, so you’re ready for whatever comes your way.

Positive Habits for You to Start Today

Just remember: It all begins with SMALL actions. They don’t have to be big to be effective. The key is consistency, which roots your mindset in positivity. Stick with it, and over time, these habits will stack up, leading to significant changes in your life!

Here are 10 simple, effective practices that transformed my life and are a part of my system to this day
  1. As soon as I wake up in the morning, I say three things I love about myself. It’s a positive jumpstart that sets the tone for the rest of the day.
  2. I drink hot lemon water. This simple drink keeps me hydrated, supports healthy digestion, boosts my immune system, and helps keep me focused.
  3. During the day, I take time to do some deep breathing. Even just 1-5 minutes helps to ground me and focus on the moment.
  4. Each morning, I make my bed. While fixing the sheets, pillows, and blankets, I focus on showing appreciation for my space and honoring the room that supports me by giving me rest and peace.
  5. I make time to appreciate the little things around me. The trees, birds, blue sky, the fresh fruit I’m eating. Spontaneous gratitude. It helps refocus my mind on positivity.
  6. I do something that makes me smile while I’m doing those “mundane tasks.” Like playing my favorite music or dancing while doing the dishes. If we have to do them anyway, might as well make it enjoyable.
  7. Each day, I set one mini-goal to do something JUST for myself. It could be to get five minutes outside in the sun to soak up some vitamin D, reading a chapter in a book, having an afternoon tea in silence. One tiny thing that fills me up.
  8. At some point in the day, I stop, look at my reflection in the mirror, and say a positive affirmation. It can be as simple as, “I’m amazing. I’ve got this!”
  9. I say affirmations with my family. This is something my family and I do together every day. It creates deeper connections and commitments to leveling up life together. And did you know that positive affirmations lower your stress and bring an optimistic mindset to your home?
  10. I make sure to share my love by doing an act of kindness each day. It can be as simple as holding the door for someone, but it’s a powerful practice of what you put out in the world, you get back.

Fun & Easy Ways For Your Child To Start To Master Their Health

1. Unify It

Reframing the language around healthy eating creates magic!

The mind is a powerful tool. You can change your perception of anything simply by the way you think about and describe it. Your child’s mindset can shift from having to eat it to wanting to eat it when you begin to describe healthy eating as an opportunity instead of framing it as a chore!

Instead of saying “You need to eat this carrot because it is good for you,” try this:
“Wow!

You have the amazing opportunity to supercharge your body with all the energy it needs with this carrot. It has incredible superpowers that will help you feel energized to play all day! It has magic inside of it for you.”

2.Gamify it​

Make it a game.

Science has shown that children learn through play.

Play shouldn’t end at the swing set. Move the fun into the kitchen and start making eating a game. One of the best ways to do this is by playing chef.

Take them on a special trip to the grocery store. Have your child pick out three different colored vegetables to prepare a dish. This empowers them to take leadership of their own healthy eating and it’s fun!

3. Amplify it

Seal it with gratitude.

If a life filled with gratitude is a happy one, then a body filled with gratitude is a healthy and happy one!

Sometimes showing gratitude is even easier when we assume sentience! Let your child know that food has feelings and that it is listening. Ask them to say “thank you” to the food for fueling them with the power they need. Let them know that gratitude is the key to magical wealth flowing into your life.

Have them research, learn, and understand so they can see the value for themselves, rather than it coming from you. Giving them the opportunity to understand why this is an important key to their life.

This unlocks a new awareness, and before long, your child will enjoy eating healthy. Soon enough, you’ll be reminiscing on the difficult days while enjoying the easier ones!
